Growing up in Hardin Valley “before the boom” gave Rusty Bittle the opportunity to see first hand the importance of development – residential, commercial and industrial. From his early teen years, Rusty knew he wanted to play a key part in developing the area he called home. He saw visions for stores, homes and even a high end spa that others didn’t. Being a risk-taker and having an entrepreneurial spirit set him apart and led to a great deal of success in these ventures. Perhaps one of the most important things, however, is the way he treats those he works with. From one development and business to the next, he leaves a string of happy clients, investors and employees. From the front desk workers at Pure Luxe spa to those who live in homes he has developed, one thing is clear – “Rusty cares about things being done the right way. He shows up and makes sure he is personally involved and invested. He goes above and beyond to make sure people are taken care of. That makes all the difference.”  

This attitude is also a reflection of life experiences. Raised in a low income household, he certainly remembers his roots and the need to help others. Often taking no credit for the financial support he provides, Rusty is invested in many charities. A large donor to his church, among other non-profit organizations, he believes deeply in helping those who need it most and sees that first hand through a number of their ministries. After completing – and starting – several development projects in the Oak Ridge area, he was enthusiastic about increasing his philanthropic footprint to the area as well. United Way of Anderson County and Habitat for Humanity are just two of the identified organizations to receive generous donations already with a plan to do more. As more of his developments in Oak Ridge and Anderson County thrive, the commitment continues to be there to grow those donations and give-back opportunities in response.
