There are so many things to worry about over the holiday season, especially for clients who struggle to make ends meet. This year, United Way of Anderson County was able to make the season a little more special for some of those who needed it most.

Leslie McDurmott, an independent LuLaRoe consultant, donated over $7,300 in women’s clothes. Six local nonprofits, including YWCA, Florence Crittenton and Ridgeview, were able to pick up entire outfits for women in our community who need clothes for interviews, jobs, and to stay warm this winter. Our agencies distributed the clothes throughout the holiday season.

Right after Christmas, Honeybaked Ham of Oak Ridge donated over 75 full hams and turkeys! Three local food pantries as well as several local nonprofits, all of whom are members of the United Way Food Pantry Coalition, were able to offer this bounty to several families in need.

We are so thankful for the people and businesses who make such significant donations to those who need help in Anderson County!

How can you help in the new year? Right now, United Way is collecting new space heaters and heated blankets for families who are struggling to stay warm. They will be distributed with help from ADFAC and the Ecumenical Storehouse, who are also offering home weatherization kits to families who qualify. Downtown Hardware and Ace in Clinton is offering discounts for those contributing to this effort! Please drop the items off at one of the following locations:
